NEO JAZZ SERIES

The Neo Jazz Series is an ongoing body of work revisited annually, serving as both a return and a renewal within my practice. These sessions allow me to step away from conceptual frameworks and engage in a more intuitive, improvisational approach to creation, much like the essence of jazz itself. Deeply influenced by the rhythms, melodies, and emotional spontaneity of the music and sub genres it surrounds, I allow each piece to emerge organically during these studio explorations.

The figures that inhabit these works are what I often describe as "imaginary people" characters born from memory, observation, and the countless individuals whose presence and energy leave an impression on my consciousness. Collectively, they form a visual language that is both personal and universal. Often noted for a Creole sensibility and echoes of Basquiat's expressive spirit, these characters continue to evolve with each iteration of the series.
